1) Glut of people getting into the trade. Hello, I'm one, though I'm not new. I did this 15 years ago and with the 'economic downturn' I needed a good job *fast* that was flexible. I came back to this, and I'm very good at it, and the company who hired me is very happy they took the chance based primarily on my voice and interview quality. I guess the sound of desperation was somewhat alluring.
The best way to deal with a glut of other girls is simply be very good at what you do, and encourage regulars with callers who might be interested. I find giving empathy to my callers as important, if not more important that giving good anything else. I've only been back a month, but the regulars I have already will ensure my base paycheck. (No I am not paid hourly
2) Belt Tightening. Sin/vice is a steady business through all economic downturns, but it slows down when the belt is slightly tightened. People don't cut it out...they cut back on it. So that absolutely will impact the industry. My regulars have talked about cutting back (very apologetically, and in concern). They'll still call, but perhaps not as frequently. Or so they say. Some will call as much anyway...some less. If it gets worse, they'll call more.
Yes, more. They need the release that this offers. We're their fantasy perfect woman, one who is everything they want and desire...and who doesn't judge them or put pressure on them (except in ways they like). When everything else is hitting that proverbial fan, they need us more than ever.
So for tl;dr...yes there will be some slow downs, but we'll fare far better than most businesses long term.
