Posts: 84 04/09/09 13:34:12	Tags : None So I've not initiated a topic in quite a while on any board... As some of you know, I've started PSOCash.com .. my phone sex affiliate... People get an 1800 number... promote it.. make 30% profit.. my girls do the calls.. and I'm still paying girls on my pay scale for trolling.. for those calls.. One thing I'm running into.. is that vanilla guys using our competitors... are wanting freebies and discounts. I tried to explain to them that your other top phone sex affliates are dispatch companies... only paying the girls 50 cents per minute or below... And they can afford to give Wal-Mart phone sex prices... but the clients, for the most part, are getting PSOs who aren't versed in fetishes.. and who aren't being paid enough to take the time to go study fetishes... Part of me doesn't want to lose that type of affiliate... but part of me never wants to be that. Ever. I don't ever want to be the place that's paying the girls shit.. and letting the guys have the edge..even if my phones are ringing off the hook.. I dont want to go there... But should I make some sort of consideration? ANd the biggest part of the question.. I know it's been stated over and over in terms of NF... But do you guys notice the HUGE difference in clientel on a price like $1.29 or 10 minute free stuff... versus $1.99+? Most of my affiliates are CHOOSING to charge $2.99.. and calls are coming... so I don't really understand why a guy would want to be cheaper? Isn't the name of the game to all be making money? What's everyone's feeling on pricing and clientel.. as a whole... I guess I'm too close to my PSOing days to even THINK about paying girlies 50 cents per min... OR LESS... Guys with money don't mind spending it and thats the kind of caller I want! I make $1 a minute plus bonuses and I feel thats fair for my time and expertise. You sound like a great owner who values your ops!

Rusty Hey Rusty, I'm doing wonderful.. how are you ? work work work work work... It was an affiliate who was asking me if I'd do freebies or discounts... as part of my promo tools... And on one hand, I don't want to become a company that's known for the bargain basement phone sex... but on the other hand.. maybe I'm just being very ego-ey (who, me?) about the whole deal? and paying a lower rate and doing discount phone sex really isn't THAT bad? This same affiliate said that only 40-50% of his rings turn into sales... so I'm wondering if lower priced phone sex gets more idiots calling and hanging up or backing out?? or if phone sex is advertised at a low price, but there's a bait and switch for a quality girl.. if they're hanging up.... Kinda the theory of 69 cent phone sex.. if you pay a $20 connection fee.. sorta thing... I guess I'm just feeling really insecure about alienating the cheaper affiliates... Posts: 67 04/09/09 23:41:33	Maybe the freebie and discount offerers tend to get newbie callers, nervous guys not sure if they are going to get anything worthwhile or not, so a lot of them back out of doing a call. I suspect a lot of them who do complete a call will never call again. But a guy who calls a $1.99 (or more) line knows what he wants and expects to get it. From what I can tell, most of them are in the later middle-age range and are in earn-their-age type jobs with good credit and nice credit lines on their cards. That's not as likely to be true with the cheap line callers. The thing is, setting aside what a really good op can offer--which the caller won't know unless he is a regular--, what the caller gets for $1.29 v $1.99 or $2.99 is the same--a cooperative female voice. So he's got to be convinced--before he ever calls--that the higher priced line will be better. That's the magic trick. As an aside, I think the guys calling a high-priced "luxury" line are also way easier to upsell into more than just the call. If you are doing a pantyhose fetish call, he's going to want to buy those pantyhose you are wearing and have described so well, explaining how it makes you so hot to think of him pleasuring himself with them during your next call together...and you've already cleared his credit card....

I have never found giving freebies to be a good way to get customers in general, and definitely not the right way to get the RIGHT customers. The only thing we use free time or discounts for is to resolve customer service issues for established customers. In terms of attracting NEW customers, free or cheap definitely attracts the WRONG customers who are more likely to complain or charge back, and are probably not going to turn into long term valuable customers which is what you are looking for, I'm sure. And in my opinion, when it comes to marketing SEX, giving it away for free is going to ping that carnal part of our customers' minds - to a certain degree, and on a subconscious level, they expect and want to have to work (pay) for the nut. Like a drunk floozie in a bar who'll give it away to anyone - not many want it if they don't have to work for it. The thing a "free trial" DOES accomplish is letting the customer try the service without having to risk giving his credit card to someone he doesn't know/trust yet. However, since we need a CC for age verification whether we're charging for the call or not, free time to eliminate the CC part of the transaction becomes a moot point. Keep doing what you're doing and tell that affiliate (as I'm sure you have) that a 50% conversion ratio rings-to-calls is NOT bad at all. "ONLY' 40 to 50%! LOL Tell him to check out average conversion ratios at web based affiliate sites where 1 out of 300 conversion is an amazing ratio! Hope you're doing well PSS

That's 10% of calls in to the lines converting to paid calls. I LOL'd at the "only" 50%" too. I'm pretty sure you know the pricing on Omegacash's lines, right PSS? Their "discount" is a block of minutes billed at 1.99 per minute as opposed to straight per minute pricing of 3.49 per plus a connection fee. Reasonably priced, problem free web hosting! I only had 210 calls total... Obviously these numbers aren't exact.. but when I run my DBMG numbers.. We're converting like 85-90% of rings to sales... I think a website that's clear in pricing without too many discounts accomplishes that. But maybe I'm wrong... obviously Saturday nights aren't... or Sunday nights.. And 100% of all rings to two of my affiliates have been sales.. I think it's all in how it's marketed.. and I think some people enjoy putting the cheaper spin on it, maybe? getting a boat load of calls and traffic and hoping something sticks? and $3.49/min.. GEEZ they are cleaning up. What do the ops make? LOL My next fetish site I sign up.. we'll do a test run at $3.49/min.. geesh. I agree with what others have said and I would add, YOU know this business and unless your affiliates are also in the phone sex business, they don't necessarily know all that behind the scenes stuff. Sometimes that fresh perspective is a good thing and certainly something to consider, but it sounds like in this situation you really know what's best so don't let them talk you into something that your business sense doesn't support. good luck Rusty
