Hello all! I am "investigating" the whole PSO thing, and I am incredibly interested... but I have a few questions. Is it standard practice for
someone to be listening in on the convo (someone besides you and the client, of course)? Also, is there any problem with taking vacations? I have a couple of
scheduled holidays coming up, and won't be at home for up to 3 weeks- does that cause complications? Can I let them know at the time of hiring to reduce
issues? I have one more- when you call in for an interview do they want to hear your regular voice, sexy voice, accents, or what? I am not all that positive
that my natural voice is super sexy, but I know I can make it sexy!
I will probably have so many more questions- and I have been perusing this site for days now just soaking up the info! Thank you so very much for this

I would wait until your vacations are over before starting this job.
After a decade in the business, I have to disagree about vacations. Taking time off is a sure way to lose your regulars. They won't want to wait for you to get back so they call someone else "in the meantime" and then you rarely get them back as they move on for good. But, if you do decide to take some time off, I would never tell your callers that you are on vacation. Tell them you have a family emergency or people came in from out of town etc. I have heard many times of callers reacting badly to a girl taking a 'vacation' and saying "oh it must be nice to be able to take a vacation, I thought you were hurting for money" or they say "oh so thats what you are doing with all my money". Unless you are strictly domme etc, the callers want to think that you are working phones because you are desperate for money or a struggling college student etc. As far as your voice goes, always use your regular speaking voice. Its one thing to be able to do an accent etc but a "faked" voice won't last on calls that go on for hours and hours. |

When I am on vacation, I always have my cell with me and work reduced hours. My regulars appreciate that I am still available to them. I don't tell them
that I do the job because I'm impoverished, so that's just not part of my character. I do it because it's convenient and I like laying around the
house naked playing with myself... or something like that. If you're working for a company that takes requests, it will be a lot different from a big company that is purely dispatch and allows no requests. You can't take extended vacations when you've got this job. Three weeks is a long vacation nowadays for anybody. Losing a regular is the risk you take when you take time off. But if the company itself is going to give you a hard time for taking a week off once a year, you need a different company. It's not humane to expect workers to be available 24/7/365. |

Well, so I guess I will ask this- I have a vanilla job and only want to do this for fun and extra money. I go on medical mission trips and leave the country
for long periods of time once or twice a year. That is more important to me in the long run, so I won't stop going, but is it possible to tell them I am
going and that if they still need me when I get back I would love to continue? I will run the risk of losing regulars, and that will suck money-wise, but...
would there be any reason the company wouldn't let me start up again after a short break? Even just re-hire me? Is there any drawbacks to it besides losing
regulars?

I guess if you are only wanting to do this part-time then its a moot point. Just work for a dispatch company where you can log on and off and they probably
won't care. A lot of dispatch companies don't even do requests etc so you would not even have regulars to lose in that case.
I work direct-dial and don't take much time off. Its not that my company would be against it - they are great ; I just don't feel comfortable doing that to my callers and my bottom line. And the cell phone idea is a good one too. I have used it many a time when I have to be out. I just forward my work line to my cell and off I go. |

So, what about all the "landline" hoopla? I understand it is more reliable and quieter, with less chance of hangups, but it sounds like a cell can
still be used? Because I thought about that, but thought it was a "no-no"
I would love to get experience under my belt, do my next overseas trip
this winter, and then be ready for a request service when I get back... and thank you again for your helpful replies!

Most companies that require landlines do it because they're more reliable (battery can't suddenly go dead) and they can't be eavesdropped on.

But, are there some companies that don't require that or is that just a sneaky "something-something" you can
implement down the road? Where would I find a list of companies that don't require it, if that's the case? I don't have a landline and would love
to be able to start without installing one.

I seriously doubt that anybody has gone to the trouble of making a list of companies that don't require landlines. The kind of dispatch company you would have to work for would probably require it. They don't pay much but send you a lot of calls, so they don't want their girls to drop calls. Some of these companies require you to be connected the whole time you are logged in, and the calls just come and come. If you disconnect, you get in trouble. Being away for three weeks twice a year would probably put a major crimp in your employability in the industry. |

don't like being out of touch any more than that, and I don't take extended vacations - just to "visit family", staying in a motel, which
happens to be the truth.
