To answer a few questions. As far as what company is good to start with it depends on the type of company you are wanting to work for. Dispatch, Trolling/Self Promotion, or Combo. The meaning of the different types is on the first page of this topic. Once you decide on the type of company you want to work for just check out companies that are hiring from the employment section here and SexyJobs Once you decided on several companies to interview with do a search here on the board for them and see what you can find out.
Ideas: HotLessa (probably spelt that wrong) but she has a good post on the first page of this topic on starting calls. As far as ideas alot comes from my head and reading erotica and watching movies. As far as the nervousness that will last for a little while. The first few calls will be scary and all kinds of emotions. You just have to jump in there and go for it. It will get easier with each call. Some people have a glass of wine or drink before their first call to help. As far as swinging I am not sure about that. I personally haven't heard that term. Goodluck on your search! Jaclyn ~ UrNawtySecrets

Re: RE: Where to Start | #26

Is is typical for a PSO employer to (a) require a contract (b) ask for not only my current address but two previous addresses, and (c) ask for copies of both my social security card and my driver's license. Also, I noted in the contract a "hold harmless" clause, one requiring I pay 50% of any bad checks or chargebacks and fines for missed calls. I'm new! My background prior happens to be HR so this is all familiar employment paperwork stuff...but I wanted to run it by the forum and see if it seems standard. It's actually a thorough contract, similar to the ones insurance companies issue!! LOL Thanks so much!

Hi! I've just contracted to begin working with AOS - it's a dispatch service. I will start Tuesday evening after work, as soon as I have a phone line installed. I'm doing it because I need some extra $$ to keep my home (I'm single & 33 & Mr. Right just ain't anywhere to be found). I'm really, really nervous because there seem to be so many scenarios that COULD happen on the calls - it's like i want to memorize all these great answers on this web site so i'll be prepared for every call. i'm SO glad i came across this site because it answered so many questions i wouldn't have even thought of! i went and bought index cards to keep track of callers, and a bulletin board to post pictures of outfits to describe and "prodders," or conversation starters if i get stuck. if it's okay, i will also put some of these answers up there so i'll have them available. anyway, sorry to ramble, but wanted to thank you for all the great information here, and for discussing it so matter-of-factly.

as far as swing goes, I'm assuming it's like a swing shift... where you work all different shifts... your schedule "swings" through shifts...
For contracts... yes, it is required for identification and such... and just to let the longtime ladies of this board know, I love this place! It's helped me a lot... thanks! CT |

Hello All!!
I am from Montreal CAnada and am interested in being PSO! I have been reading all of your comments and information and have learned much. WinterHaven, your info is really handy! I was wondering how to approach the convesation and how much of a discription i should give, i will use your directives as it is easy to follow! So all i need now are some companies that i should work wih both here in Canada and the USA. Any ideas? Also, is this income taxable or under the table? Thank you |

Phone sex work is just like any other. You have to pay your taxes. Good luck searching for a company to work for. Be sure to check out both the non-US and the employment sections. You'll find info on companies that hire Canadians there.

Most companies will give you (and the IRS) a 1099 stating what you were paid for the year. They dont have to give you anything if you earned less than $600. Some companies still will, but they don't have to.

Wow! I started a thread in the advice column about this...sorta. Anyways, about this "trolling" thing. I call a toll-free number and chat with many guys regularly. Since I don't have a PC, would this be a good way to promote my services if selected for a job as a pso? Also, which companies pay the best as far as hourly wages? Thanks.

Re: Re the best places to start for newbies | #33

I would highly recommend a dispatch company so you do nothave to find your own customers.
look at sexyjobs.com to find employment info on each company. Here is a list of good companies to start with: IAS- I started with them. They pay .20-.40/minute. they have good call volume in the day and overnights. Nice supervisors,be careful of one supervisor she can be very rude. You must maintain a 7.5 hold time for week which is not too hard with this company. They are understanding if you have one bad week. PPS/TBE- I worked here for 8 months. they pay 7-10 an hour for log in time and talk time. make sure you have a mute button so between calls the moniters do not hear you because they give you a hard time for much background noise. I would say work for them only for a few months to get training. There is too much drama there and supervisors are nasty at times. David and Kim are nice but they do not work directly for pps/tbe. USA Chatline- I worked here for3 months also nice to just get some training. They pay low but you can log on when you want aviod julia; trust me. go to dialamodel.com and apply with Glenda that way you do not have to deal much with julia. All these companies pay on time and pay what you expected. If you for usa chatline just keep your own records to. My favorite company was ias. I wish i could go back but I had a run in with that rude supervisor. if you have anymore questions about these companies let me know. |

Re: silent callers | #34 | ||

I usually first began as normal by saying hello I am summer, how are you. if they do not reply than they are silent callers. I then proceed to tell them what naughty things i did with my girlfriend orboyfriend that day. I paint him a pciture in graphic details. I am an erotic writer and I use ideas from my stories or make up new ones.

Re: Where TO START-A NEWBIES GUIDE TO BEING A PSO | #35

First let me start by saying hello to all!! I am really interested in becoming a PSO but I would really like to know if this is honestly a good way to make a nice steady income. I can contribute atleast 40 hours a week working evenings and over night. I've read a lot of the postings on this site and familiarized myself with most of the terms ie, hold-times and trolling. I would really like 2 start out with a dispatch company that has decent hold-times and pay rates for newbies. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanx a million in advance!!! p.s. If anyone knows of these kind od companies that are hiring at this time please feel free 2 let me know. |

Wow! Lots of great advice here. I've gotten set up and I'm all ready to start, but I have those first time jitters. Reading everyone's posts is calming me down somewhat.

Thank you for all the great advice | #39

This is my first week as a pso. I signed up for USA Chatlines because I was looking for a company that would let me get in some experience. After reading the threads on this site, I am not sure I made the best choice. ;(
My first week has had several ups and downs, but has not discouraged me from pursuing this as a career. I really wish that i had read Winterhaven's post prior to taking my first calls. I now feel much more prepared to keep my customers on the line longer. Once again thank you for all the wonderful advice. you ladies rock! |

You're not sure, BunnyHoney? Read a little more and then you'll be sure.
Again, USACL has the worst rep in the business with the possible exception of a few companies that won't pay you at all. There are many legitimate companies that will pay you fairly and treat you with respect. Just read the board. |
